Orchestra Policies (New)

COVID-19 Policy — Update August 2023:
PSO follows the prevailing Alameda County guidelines on Covid-19, and patterns communications after Oakland Symphony’s guidance. Masking is encouraged but not required; vaccination is strongly recommended but not required. Do not come to rehearsal if you know you’ve been exposed, or have symptoms, for five days after.  This applies for both audience and musicians.

Admission to the Orchestra: Admission is by informal audition with Music Director Eric Hansen. String players are always welcome. We often need substitute or extra wind players, and may need to fill a vacancy.  Contact info@prometheussymphony.org.

Requested Member Contributions: All regular orchestra members are expected to contribute $150 each semester, due in September and January. You can pay by check or online on the Membership Contributions Page. Confidential hardship accommodation is available.

Rehearsal Tips: Remember common courtesies e.g. pianissimo voice (need we say more?) Talk to your section leader or Eric about absenses/vacancies.  Fall 2023 – Refreshments are paused until our rehearsal space is fully available, then expect a sign-up poll from Karl Sevareid  (bass).  Times/Dates/Music links and more are at Rehearsal Schedule.  Bring your own stand & light.

Program Ads: We encourage members to ask local businesses to place ads in our concert programs. Members can also place ads “in honor” of someone. Contact John Gilbert or Erin DeBakcsy or apply HERE.

Publicity: Add family/friend emails to our mailing list (at right) so they receive our Fortissimo! concert notices. Give or send our publicity postcards to potential attendees.  Post flyers at businesses and workplaces.

Corporate Matching: If your employer matches donations or volunteer hours, Prometheus is likely eligible. For examples of how to do this, ask John Gilbert (timpani) or Sandy Roadcap (violin) or Duy Tran (violin/clarinet).

Concert Dress:  Women — black dress or pants.  Men — black tux or suit, white shirt & bow tie, or black shirt.

Minors (under 18) are welcome – we have protective policies in place (new members will be informed).

Member Roster:  Our Roster is for internal use only; Karl Sevareid (bass) can help you with the password or updates.
