Ariel Pawlik-Zweibel, violin

Violinist Ariel Pawlik-Zwiebel,17, is a senior at Campolindo High School in Moraga and studies violin with Eugene Chukhlov.
Ariel performs regularly as a soloist and recitalist, and recently played public concerts with his father, pianist Markus Pawlik, in Phoenix, San Rafael, Pleasanton, Walnut Creek and others. This past August, they performed in a co-production of the San Francisco International Piano Festival with Noontime Concerts at Old St. Mary’s Cathedral in San Francisco and look forward to touring Europe this upcoming summer. Ariel also performed solo works recently with the Contra Costa Performing Arts Society, the Junior Bach Festival and at the Peninsula Holocaust Memorial Commemoration and will be performing as a soloist with the Livermore-Amador Symphony in February.

As a chamber musician, Ariel plays with the Young Chamber Musicians program in Kohl Mansion and the YPSO Chamber program. He has attended the Bowdoin International Music Festival twice and participated in the chamber music at the Virtuoso Program of the San Domenico School.

Ariel toured Japan as concertmaster of the YPSO Orchestra this past summer, and was selected to be the concertmaster of the Festival Orchestra at the Bay Area Youth Orchestra Festival (BAYOF) in January 2024. He has also performed several times in the professional California Chamber Orchestra together with the San Francisco Choral Society and is a former member of the San Francisco Symphony Youth Orchestra.

Ariel has won top prizes in numerous competitions including, among others, the Berkeley Etude Club Competition, Pacific Musical Society Competition, the US Open Competition, the DVC-HNU Strings Competition and the Silicon Valley Philharmonic Music Competition and he was a laureate of the International Grumiaux Competition in Belgium.

As the co-chair of the CCPAS student chapter, Ariel ran a student concert series from 2022-2024. He also participates in a FIRST robotics team.
