When you include Prometheus Symphony in your estate plan or make a legacy gift, your generosity creates music experiences that spark joy and inspiration for years to come. The Prometheus Legacy Society recognizes and honors members of our orchestra and our audience — and their families — who have included Prometheus Symphony in their estate plans, direct giving, or investment accounts. See Donor Rewards for what awaits you! Of course, you should consult your financial or estate planner, but here are a few examples of how you can make a legacy gift.
Let us know you’ve made a legacy gift so we can honor and reward you. Use the online form, or print it and return it to John Gilbert, Prometheus President.
Recurring Donations
If you sign up to make a monthly online donation of $25 or more ($300/yr), we’ll track that for you and you’ll become a member of the Legacy Society right away. Set up a monthly online donation.
Bequests
Making a bequest in your will or living trust is an easy way to give. Bequest language can be as simple as naming Prometheus Symphony Orchestra, PO Box 3335, Oakland, CA 94609, Tax ID 94-2516578. Your gift can be a specific dollar amount, a percentage of your estate, or the residue left after other gifts are satisfied.
Beneficiary Designations
Naming Prometheus Symphony as a beneficiary of a life insurance policy, annuity, or retirement fund (IRA, 401k, 403b) can offer tax advantages, and you don’t need to change your will or trust. Simply ask your plan sponsor for a beneficiary designation form and name Prometheus Symphony Orchestra.
Required Minimum Distributions
If you’re at the age you’re required to take withdrawals from your IRA/401(k) accounts (currently age 73), you can give the required distribution amount directly to a qualified charitable organization, tax-free and excluded from your adjusted gross income. Plan this on an ongoing basis and you’ll join the Legacy Society.
Donor Advised Funds (DAF)
This charitable investment account lets you make tax-deductible contributions (cash, stocks, real estate, or other assets) on an ongoing basis. You recommend how much and how often money is granted to Prometheus Symphony and other qualified charities — now, or as a tool for future giving.
