Who are the Prometheans?
Longevity
- 15 current members have played with Prometheus for 20 or more years
- 17 more have been members for 10 to 20 years.
- We range from under 25 to over 90 years of age.
Music Background
- 16 have attended music school, 10 of whom earned a music degree.
- 4 are now, or have been, music teachers.
- 16 have played professionally, most commonly in pit orchestras for musicals.
- Many currently take lessons.
- A large number regularly play with other volunteer orchestras and chamber groups.
Professions
- What we do in “real life” varies dramatically (both active and retired):
- 10 in high tech (software engineers, computer programmers, technicians).
- 8 scientists or engineers
- 5 in financial fields
- 5 attorneys (including a judge and an arbitrator)
- 5 elementary or secondary teachers
- 3 professors or college instructors
- 3 in medicine or the health care industry
- Other occupations include architect, brewery manager, demographer, draftsman, editor, furniture maker, landscape architect, painting contractor, music librarian, transportation planner
