Violin The 21st annual Prometheus Symphony Orchestra Student Concerto Competition was held on January 26, 2010. The competition is open to Bay Area string, woodwind, brass, and percussion players, eighteen years of age or younger. The winner(s) will perform with the orchestra on Sunday, March 21, and May 23, 2010 respectively and will receive a $200 award plus a professional recording of the performance. The competition for 2009-2010 is closed. Applications for the 2010-2011 will be available in September 2010. Please check back then if you wish to apply for the 2010-2011 competition.

The Concerto Competition is held in memory of Felix Khuner, a member of the San Francisco Symphony, the San Francisco Opera Orchestra, the California String quartet, and a teacher of chamber music. Felix Khuner played with the Prometheus Symphony after his retirement from the Opera Orchestra.

Contestants are to perform from memory a complete concerto or solo work for solo instrument and orchestra. Contestants must provide an accompanist and a copy of the solo part for the judges. In selecting the work to be performed, the contestant should ensure that orchestral parts are currently available.
